When we first evaluated the complex in 2013, we dubbed it an uncut diamond. Thirteen years later, the property has a new name under an international brand and a more convincing look. Still, the diamond cutting isn’t finished.

Its greatest asset is not an individual conference hall, but the possibility to turn an entire resort into a stage for an event. Of course, this can only happen if leisure and business guests are not mixed.

However, square metres can be easily erected. A team must create the energy in a room. Here is where the hotel will face the most demanding part of its transformation. It must translate its size into personal hospitality, turn ambition into consistent service and potential into a reliable congress product. Big plans do not define resorts; the small details do. Resorts are guided not by investors, but by hospitality experts. The real test will come when the hotel is fully booked, the first events are in the books, and Salterra opens. That is when renders will cease to matter. What will matter is how the hotel works when the reception, restaurant, conference centre and pools are all full. Renders can be exaggerated, but guests see everything. Mövenpick Kvarner Bay is today a promise with tremendous potential. If the team connects all its bits and bobs, it can become one of the most alluring conference resorts in the northern Adriatic. The view has always deserved five stars. Now, the resort must follow suit. Above all, the hotel needs to choose a team that understands event organisers’ needs.
