The owners of Botanique Hotel Prague decided that their X factor will be sustainability, not as a trendy buzzword or slogan, but as a strategic path. Their comprehensive sustainability report attests to their vision by transparently sharing data, from energy efficiency to carbon footprint. Their report gives their story credibility. Today, that is still very rare in the hospitality industry. Perhaps the hotel is still better at theory than practice, considering their ambitious slogans that do not deliver (advocating the gastronomy and interior design). However, the hotel has been setting standards in Prague. That is why we can consider this hotel a best practice case of responsible hospitality in the region. The hotel’s genuine sustainable aspirations, clear vision, and documented credibility will need to be enriched by consistent execution in practice and authentic experiences for hotel guests. Of course, the business reality needs to be considered as well. The management expects all 214 rooms to be occupied, which forces them to make sustainable compromises. Nevertheless, goodwill, consistency, and passion for making a sustainable transformation are admirable at Botanique Hotel Prague.
